- Can the builder/contractor
provide genuine references?
- Are they VAT registered?
(need not apply to tradesman contracted to carry out a single task i.e. carpenter,
plumber etc.).
- Are they a member
of a trade federation/association?
- Do they freely offer
there address & contact phone number's?
- Do they offer helpful
advice?
- Do they recommend
that a building control officer (Local council) oversee the structural work
of a project?
- Are the best materials
for price quoted being used?
- Are the workmen polite,
do they regard your house/property as your home/workplace and not they're
building site?
- Are health and safety
regulations enforced?
As a
company we adhere and comply with all these mentioned above.
Before commencing any
project whether big or small the customer should be aware of a few key points.
- Has planning been applied
for?(extensions & new builds etc)
- Do we have the finances
to cover the project?
- Do we have the finances
to cover extra works that may not be apparent to the builder on submitting
an estimate? (An example would be to give an estimate for rendering an internal
wall and pricing accordingly and finding that behind the render the brickwork
has deteriorated and requires rebuilding. We stress this is only used as an
example and most builders would know the works involved in general repairs
but sometimes it is impossible to give a fixed price without further investigation
to some works).
The above is set as a
guide only.
